What to Expect

Your care is always grounded in professional standards, informed consent, and respect for your body’s limits. Your comfort matters from the moment you walk in.

This applies whether you're coming in for therapeutic or prenatal massage - the same collaborative, consent-first approach applies either way.

Adaptive Care, Simple Booking

Low-Friction Booking

Scheduling is designed to be as accessible as possible.  No mandatory account creation or credit card holds.

Appointments are straightforward. Instead of choosing from a list of “types” or techniques, you simply select the length of your visit.

Every session is collaborative and evidence-informed, adapting in real-time to your specific goals and preferences.

Before You Arrive

If you filled out your intake form online, we'll review it together when you get here and sign it at the office.  If you didn't - no big deal.  Just show up about 10 minutes early and you can fill it out here.  (Returning clients do not have to do an intake form - that is updated as needed)

When You Arrive

Fair warning: I'll probably say "hi, how are you?" like a normal human, even if you're here because something hurts.

Bear with me

From there, we'll go over your intake form together.  I'll ask some follow-up questions, and if you've never had a massage before, we'll talk through what you're expecting and adjust anything that needs adjusting.  If you're here for pain, we may do some simple assessments like range of motion testing to get a baseline.  If you're here because life is just hard right now and you need to zone out - that is a completely legitimate reason to be here.  No explanation needed.

**Returning clients skip the intake part and go right to the collaborative part.

The Collaboration Part (Don't Let It Overwhelm You)

This is where we make a plan together based on how you're feeling that day and what you are hoping to get out of your session.

(If you are returning, we will discuss what worked well for you and what didn't and adjust the plan collaboratively from there.)

I'll also go over any tools we might use, like hot stones or cupping.  Both are always optional, only used if they're a good fit for what you need, and cost you absolutely nothing extra.  Zero.  Zilch.  Not a single extra dollar.  (Also only used with your informed consent).

If you are hesitant about anything - we don't do it.  It really is that simple.

One honest heads up: not everything can be fixed in a single session.  I'll always be straight with you about that.

Talking (Or Not)

If you don't want to talk during your appointment (after the collaboration part...), that's completely okay!  I follow your lead anyway.  We don't have to say a word to each other the entire session.  But if you want to chat, I'm here for that too (yes, conversations fall under confidentiality).

Getting Settled in the Room

I'll give you a quick tour of the room (it's small, so not exactly a grand expedition), and then you'll get to pick your oil or lotion.  Unscented and lightly scented options are available for both.  I'd rather give you options than accidentally trigger a migraine or reaction.

Then I'll ask you to undress to your comfort level.  I genuinely do not have a preference.  I will work with whatever you are comfortable with.

A few specifics, because I'd rather be upfront:

  • Bras:  You are absolutely welcome to keep yours on.  I will not move straps, undo clasps, or disturb that boundary in any way.  Just know that I'll stop at the strap, lift my hands, move to the other side, and continue - so long gliding strokes across that area won't happen.  Totally your call, just good to know in advance.

  • Undergarments:  Glute work can absolutely be done over the sheet or blanket.  There is no rule that says you have to be in your birthday suit for massage to be effective.  Be comfortable.  That's the whole point.

  • Draping (covering with sheet / blanket):  Mandatory!  No exposure or touching of any private areas ever.  That is a nope from me.

Once you're ready, I'll step out and give you complete privacy to get settled.  You'll either start face up, face down, or on your side - we'll have already figured that out during the collaboration.  When you're ready and covered under the sheet and/or blanket, I'll knock and ask before entering.  Always.

When You're Done

When your time is up, I'll let you know gently and step out of the room.  Take your time getting up.  sit up slowly, dangle your legs off the side of the table, whatever makes sure you're fully steady before standing.  Then, when ready, head back to the lobby to check out.  If you need assistance sitting up, let me know (if not already aware). I can help without exposing any areas.

I'll ask a few follow-up questions, we'll tak through next steps if there are any, and then you're on your way.

During Your Session

Once we get started, I'll check in to make sure you're comfortable.  Please do not suffer in silence.

  • Table too cold?  Say something.

  • Pressure too much (or not enough)?  Say something

  • I'm working somwhere that doesn't feel right?  Say something.

  • You need a different bolster, an extra blanket, or the headrest adjusted?  Say something.  ("pankcake-neck-5,000" is not a vibe anyone should have to endure in silence.)

I cannot read your mind.  If something isn't working and you don't say anything, it makes the session weird for both of us.  I will not be offended.  I will not think you are being difficult.  Direct communication makes my job easier and your session better.

Oh... and don't panic about the mask.  It's simply preventing a very specific scenario I once experienced as a massage client, where someone breathed directly onto my eyeballs.  Hot nostril air.  On my eyeballs.  It was not pleasant.  You're welcome.

If you fall asleep - great.  That just means your nervous system isn't having to work against itself.  It happens all the time and it's completely fine.

Insurance & Reimbursement

Need a receipt for insurance reimbursement?  Just let me know. I provide full documentation and medical coding after any visit.

Jamie was fantastic!  She took the time to go over everything and made sure I was comfortable with everything she did.  I have a bad back and left feeling 20x better than when I came in. The experience was super relaxing as well!  I will definitely be making another appointment.
